NCDC Represented at USCCB Convocation of Catholic Leaders

Sr. Georgette Lehmuth, OSF, represented NCDC and the Catholic fundraising community last week at the Convocation of Catholic Leaders. From July 1 - 4, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops convened an unprecedented gathering of key leaders from dioceses and Catholic organizations from across the country in order to assess the challenges and opportunities of our time, particularly in the context of the Church in the United States. The gathering assembled Catholic leaders for a strategic conversation, under the leadership of the bishops, on forming missionary disciples to animate the Church and to engage the culture.

Introducing the ‘Gerontrophilanthroplutocracy”

Robert F. Sharpe, Jr., Chairman of The Sharpe Group and well-known philanthropy speaker and author, will present a featured session at the NCDC Annual Conference this fall.

IRS data underscores the fact that older donors make a disproportionate percentage of charitable gifts and give significantly more than younger donors.  America’s nonprofit community will be increasingly reliant on the senior population as Baby Boomers are entering this phase of life. Mr. Sharpe’s presentation will explore the expected impact of the rapidly growing population of aging Baby Boomers and how they can be expected to dominate the philanthropic landscape over the coming decade in both expected and unexpected ways: the “gerontrophilanthroplutocracy.”
