NCDC Announces Twelfth Annual Lumen Award Winners

The National Catholic Development Conference (NCDC) is proud to announce the winners of the Twelfth Annual Lumen Awards, the only awards program recognizing excellence in the ministry of fundraising. Eleven first place winners and eight second place winners were selected in nine categories, including: Prospecting Campaign, Donor Renewal Program, Major Donor Appeal, Publications With and Without a Gift Envelope, Accountability/Annual Report, Integrated Campaign, and the newly added category, Donor Relationship Enhancement.

The “2017 Best of Show” award will be awarded through popular vote at the 2017 NCDC Annual Conference and Exposition in San Diego this September.

The Lumen Awards were created to acknowledge excellence in the ministry of fundraising and to enrich the Catholic development community through sharing this excellence.

St. Joseph’s Indian School (Chamberlain, SD) shared a video featuring Geri Beck, their Director of Major Gifts officer, explaining what percentage of donors’ contributions goes toward services.


Maryvale (Rosemead, CA) shared a video and article of CEO Steve Gunther explaining the success of the Trauma Informed Care (TIC) approach with its foster children. Maryvale has implemented the TIC principles, which address the neurological, biological, psychological, and social effects of trauma and how those experiences impact those who seek and receive mental health services.
